At present, we have yet to test SCiO's MSG detection capabilities. MSG may be difficult if not impossible to detect in mixed dishes, as SCiO works by scanning your food sample and comparing that spectrum to a database of specific foods. Then, with the use of algorithms, the individual properties of your scan are evaluated.
While we hope MSG detection is possible, it is important to stress that SCiO should not be relied on for protection from allergens under any circumstances. SCiO is NOT a medical device and should not be used as such. SCiO is designed to measure small portions of a sample or food at a time, however it cannot guarantee the absence of specific molecules on your entire plate, or in an entire serving.
